Authority to Undergo Inspection
South Wales Police Authority will undergo its first ever inspection next week, to make sure that it provides a good service to the public of South Wales.
The inspection, which is being run jointly between the Wales Audit Office and Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary, will see all areas of the Authority’s work being looked at.
Chief Executive of the Police Authority, Alan Fry, said: “This inspection will check to see whether we are performing well for the public of South Wales. Our Members and Officers have been working hard with the inspection team in preparation for the onsite visit, and we hope to have a positive report at the end of the process.
“The inspection team are recognising the vast range of work that our 19 Members and 10 Officers carry out, which ranges from complaints to performance monitoring to community engagement. The work that is carried out is phenomenal for such a small team of people, and we hope that this is noted by the Inspectors.”
The four areas that will be specifically looked at are:
-
Setting strategic direction and priorities
-
Scrutinising performance outcomes
-
Achieving results through community engagement and partnership
-
Ensuring value for money and productivity
The final report is due to be released in June.
