Alan Fry, Chief Executive of South Wales Police Authority, is to retire from the organisation on 31 December after over 30 years involvement with policing.
Mr Fry, 60, from Swansea, became involved with South Wales Police in 1980, and rose to the top post in 1995. He received an OBE for services to policing in the New Years Honours list in January 2009.

Councillor Russell Roberts, Chair of South Wales Police Authority, said: “The Taxpayers Alliance report provides a crude picture of the budgets of Police Authorities.
“No background detail of any of the forces is provided. For example, South Wales is the eight biggest force out of the 43 in Wales and England. We have 19 members, not the average 17. Our work covers seven large local authorities, a capital city, 1.2million people and working with two different Governments; one at Westminster and the other at Cardiff.

South Wales Police Authority has received a total of 120 applications for a donation from the Police Property Act Fund.
Applications were sought from organisations across South Wales who help reduce crime and anti-social behaviour or divert people away from crime.

People across South Wales are being invited to give their views on policing, by being part of a consultation panel with South Wales Police Authority.
The panel will receive three surveys over the next 12 months, beginning from January. The results will be used to shape the work of the police, authority and the incoming Police and Crime Commissioner.
