Chief Police Officer Appointment Protocol
This protocol is based on guidance from the Association of Police Authorities and the Association of Chief Police Officers.
It covers the principles of, and the process for, the appointment of Chief Officers within South Wales Police.
This protocol extends to permanent, acting and temporary appointments and secondments of chief officers. It should be read in conjunction with the Home Office Guidance on Appointment of Chief Officers.
