A Code of Corporate Governance is a framework based on principles designed to ensure that an authority is doing the right things, in the right way, in a timely, inclusive, open and accountable manner.
A Code should describe the systems by which an authority directs and controls its functions in line with good practice, through its Members and employees, and explains how it is accountable to its communities, stakeholders and users to ensure that it establishes and maintains public confidence.
South Wales Police Authority has adopted CIPFA’s (Chartered Institute on Public Finance and Accounting) Code of Corporate Governance in line with its and the Association of Police Authorities’ guidance notes for Police Authorities on delivering good governance in local government.
