Any person over 18 and living, working or studying within the South Wales Police Authority area can apply to be an Independent Custody Visitor.
Custody Visitors should be independent people able to make unbiased observations.
Each application will be considered on its own merit. Details of any convictions must be included on the form. Consent to police checks must also be given.
How to apply
From time to time we hold recruitment drives for new custody visitors. These will be published in the local media and on this website.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer with us, you can join our reserve list. Click on the link below to leave your details, or contact the Authority directly on 01656 869366.
The independence and integrity of the scheme will be the main factor when considering applications. For this reason, people who work in the criminal justice system would be excluded.
We encourage people of all ages and ethnic background to get involved as a fair balance of the community is needed.
