Saifur Rahman

Overall & Neath Port Talbot Winner - Saifur Rahman

 
Saifur Rahman, for his work in integrating communities of Port Talbot.  He is the Secretary of the Mosque in Port Talbot and the Chair of the Port Talbot Tigers Football Club.  The club was originally started for people from the local Bengali community. 
 
However, it has now expanded to include people from all nationalities, religions and cultures.  Saifur has over the years provided an invaluable link with young people from his community and police.  He ensures that the Muslim community in Port Talbot integrate with all groups and encourages contact and open discussions.
Mark Thomas

Bridgend Winner - Mark Thomas

 
Mark Thomas is the co-ordinator of the Street Pastors Team in Bridgend, which sees people assisting police in the busy towns of the Borough on Friday and Saturday nights. 
 
He set up the team which, through his vision and leadership, has become a beneficial resource for the police, by being the eyes and ears in the town centres.
Steve Khaireh

Cardiff Winner - Steve Khaireh

 
Steve Khaireh has been a mainstay of the community of Butetown for many years.  Although his paid employment is related to working with the community, he goes above and beyond the call of duty. 
 
On weekends, he takes care of up to 11 football teams from the area of all age groups.  He actively promotes the work of the Youth Pavilion and has worked to break into gangs and re-direct those involved into other areas.
Yvonne Wood

Merthyr Winner - Yvonne Wood

 
Yvonne Wood is involved with the local community council in the Trelewis and Bedlinog area. 
 
She is also involved with Safer Merthyr Tydfil, and assists local victims of crime, liaising with local police ensuring that the vulnerable members of the community are referred to the right people.
Derek Bateman

Rhondda Cynon Taf Winner - Derek Bateman

 
Derek Bateman is the Chair of the Rhondda Cynon Taf Crime Reduction Association, and was previously the Chair of the Taff Ely Crime Prevention Panel for five years. 
 
His work has helped to introduce many projects, including ReCTify, which provided security measures to homes of the vulnerable.

Swansea Winner - Donald Paddison

 
Donald Paddison has been an active member of Swansea Neighbourhood Watch Association for over 10 years, and has been a member in the Ravenhill area for over 20 years, helping with community safety issues. 
 
He works with the police to help make people and communities feel safe.
Peter Arthur

Vale of Glamorgan Winner - Peter Arthur

 
Peter Arthur is part of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme, and became a co-ordinator for a Neighbourhood Watch scheme in Dinas Powys in 2002. 
 
In 2008, he was elected Chair of the Vale of Glamorgan Neighbourhood Watch Association.  By his actions, he has helped to continue its running.
Rosanna Jones

Young Volunteer Winners - Rosanna Jones

 
Rosanna Jones helps to keep young people off the streets and gives them a safe and friendly place to hang out, within the The Hideout, in Port Talbot. 
 
She also helps to run workshops on topics such as anti-social behaviour, criminal damage and the effects of drugs and alcohol.  She has been volunteering Since October 2005.
Rhys Jones Davies

Young Volunteer Winners - Rhys Jones Davies

 
Rhys Jones Davies has been actively involved in the PUPIL (Pupils Understanding Problems In their Locality) project since he was 13, where he has participated in a range of community safety initiatives. 
 
He has been a member of the Cynon Valley Youth Crime Prevention Panel since he was 16, and has recently been made Chair of this.
Take 2 Youth Mentoring Team

Volunteer Team Winners - Take 2 Youth Mentoring Scheme

 
Take 2 youth mentoring scheme offers one to one support to socially excluded young people in Merthyr Tydfil aged between 10 and 18.
 
Volunteer mentors aged between 19-90 listen to the young people and act as a positive role model, helping them to make positive changes in their lives. There is between 12 and 20 volunteers working with young people at any one time.
