Terms of reference

 
1. To monitor complaints made against police officers, up to the rank of Chief Superintendent.
 
2. To monitor complaints made against police staff.
 
3. To investigate public complaints made against the Chief Constable, Deputy Chief Constable and Assistant Chief Constables.
 
4. To monitor issues complained about by Members of the public and intervene where it appears that the response of the Force is unsatisfactory.
 
5. To investigate complaints/grievances made against civilian Chief Officers, both of the Force and the Authority.
 
6. To monitor conduct/misconduct of Police Officers and Staff.
 
7. To undertake a regular dip-sampling of complaints files.
 
8.  To monitor compliance by both the Force and the Authority under the provisions of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act.
 
9. To receive details of and monitor public liability claims made against the Authority.
 
10. To receive details of and monitor Employment Tribunal cases involving the Police Authority and details of employers’ liability claims.
 
11. To consider any issues arising from the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).
 
12. To consider and monitor all issues relating to quality of service.
 
13. To consider emerging risks to the Authority’s vision and objectives.
